Gilbert Delorme

Gilbert Delorme, born on November twenty-fifth, nineteen sixty-two, is a distinguished former professional ice hockey player hailing from Boucherville, Quebec. As a defenceman, he showcased his skills across five NHL teams, including the Montreal Canadiens, St. Louis Blues, Quebec Nordiques, Detroit Red Wings, and Pittsburgh Penguins. His journey in the NHL began when he was selected in the first round of the nineteen eighty-one NHL Entry Draft, being the eighteenth overall pick.

Delorme's career spanned nine seasons, during which he faced significant challenges, including a devastating auto accident in the summer of nineteen ninety that resulted in a broken leg. This injury sidelined him for the entire nineteen ninety-one season, a year when the Pittsburgh Penguins clinched the Stanley Cup, leaving Delorme off the roster due to his absence.

After retiring from professional play following the nineteen ninety-one to ninety-two season in the minors, Delorme briefly transitioned to a front office role with the Penguins. He later attempted a comeback in the International Hockey League (IHL), where he spent three seasons as an assistant coach with the Cleveland Lumberjacks and Manitoba Moose. His coaching career also included two seasons with the Montreal Rocket in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, culminating in a season as head coach.
