Gilukhipa

Gilukhipa, also known as Kilu-Hepa in the Hurrian language and Kirgipa in Egyptian, was a prominent political figure in the early fourteenth century BCE. Born into the royal family of Mitanni, she was the daughter of Shuttarna II, a significant king of the region.

As a member of the royal lineage, Gilukhipa was not only the sister of Tushratta, who would later ascend to the throne of Mitanni, but also had two other siblings, Biria-Waza and Artashumara. This familial connection placed her at the heart of the political dynamics of her time.

Her life and influence during a pivotal era in ancient Near Eastern history highlight the important roles women played in political affairs, particularly in royal families. Gilukhipa's legacy continues to be a subject of interest for historians studying the complexities of Mitanni's political landscape.
