Gina Cody

Gina Parvaneh Cody is a distinguished Canadian-Iranian engineer and business leader, renowned for her groundbreaking contributions to the field of building engineering. Born in 1957, she made history in 1989 by becoming the first woman in Canada to earn a PhD in this discipline, paving the way for future generations of female engineers.

In 2018, Cody's generous donation of fifteen million dollars to Concordia University led to the renaming of its faculty of engineering and computer science in her honor. This significant gesture resulted in the establishment of the Gina Cody School of Engineering and Computer Science, marking it as the first engineering and computer science faculty in Canada to be named after a woman, and one of the first globally.
