Gina Raimondo

Gina Raimondo, born on May seventeenth, nineteen seventy-one, is a prominent American politician and businesswoman. She made history as the first woman to serve as the governor of Rhode Island from two thousand fifteen to two thousand twenty-one. A member of the Democratic Party, she later took on the role of the 40th United States Secretary of Commerce, serving from two thousand twenty-one to two thousand twenty-five.

Raised in Rhode Island, Raimondo began her professional journey in venture capital after completing law school. In two thousand, she co-founded Point Judith Capital, marking it as Rhode Island's first venture capital firm. Her political career commenced in two thousand ten when she was elected as the General Treasurer of Rhode Island, where she focused on reforming the state's public employee pension system during her inaugural year.

In two thousand fourteen, Raimondo won the governorship in a competitive three-way race, securing forty-one percent of the vote.
