Dos Santos began his football journey with the prestigious Spanish club Barcelona, where he played for their B team until he turned eighteen. His remarkable skills earned him a spot on the senior squad, and he made his debut in 2007, the same year he was recognized by World Soccer Magazine as one of the 'Top 50 Most Exciting Teen Footballers.'

In pursuit of more playing time, dos Santos transferred to Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur in 2008. His tenure at Spurs lasted until 2012, but much of it was spent on loan at various clubs, including Ipswich Town, Galatasaray, and Racing de Santander, where he experienced mixed success. Following his time in England, he played for Mallorca, Villarreal, and LA Galaxy, ultimately concluding his professional career at Club América.
