Gisèle Pelicot

Gisèle Pelicot, born on December seventh, nineteen fifty-two, is a prominent French cadre, writer, and women's rights activist. She emerged as a feminist icon in two thousand twenty-four when she courageously waived her right to anonymity as a victim in a harrowing multiple rape case.

Between two thousand eleven and two thousand twenty, Gisèle endured a nightmare of abuse, having been drugged and raped by her husband, Dominique, and numerous other men while she was unconscious, primarily in their home in Mazan. It wasn't until two thousand twenty that she became aware of the horrific reality of her situation, following Dominique's arrest for upskirting women, which led to a police investigation revealing disturbing images of her being assaulted.

The case garnered international media attention, and Gisèle's bravery in speaking out on behalf of all victims of sexual assault earned her widespread admiration and support. Her story resonated globally, leading to her recognition in the BBC's two thousand twenty-four 100 Women and the Financial Times' list of the twenty-five most influential women of the year.

In a testament to her impact, Gisèle was appointed a knight of the Legion of Honour on Bastille Day, July fourteenth, two thousand twenty-five. In February two thousand twenty-six, she further shared her journey by publishing a co-written memoir, continuing to inspire others with her resilience and advocacy for women's rights.
