Gita Gopinath

Gita Gopinath, born on December eighth, nineteen seventy-one, is a prominent Indian-American economist renowned for her significant contributions to the field of economics. Currently, she holds the prestigious position of Gregory and Ania Coffey Professor of Economics at Harvard University, where she has been a vital part of the academic community for over two decades.

Before her current role, Gopinath made history as the first deputy managing director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) from January twenty-first, twenty twenty-two, to August thirty-first, twenty twenty-five. Her tenure at the IMF also included serving as the chief economist from two thousand nineteen to two thousand twenty-two, where she played a crucial role in addressing global economic challenges.
