Gitanas Nausėda

Gitanas Nausėda, born on May nineteenth, nineteen sixty-four, in Klaipėda, Lithuania, is a distinguished economist, university teacher, and politician. He graduated from Vilnius University in nineteen eighty-seven with a degree in economics, laying the foundation for a career that would see him rise to significant positions in both banking and politics.

From nineteen ninety-six to two thousand, Nausėda served as the director of monetary policy at the Bank of Lithuania. He later became the chief economist to the chairman of SEB bankas, a role he held from two thousand eight until two thousand eighteen. His extensive experience in the financial sector equipped him with the insights necessary for his subsequent political career.

In two thousand nineteen, Nausėda made his foray into politics as an independent candidate in the Lithuanian presidential election. He achieved a remarkable victory in the second round, defeating Ingrida Šimonytė with sixty-six percent of the vote. His moderate and inclusive approach resonated with voters, contributing to his success.

As the ninth and current president of Lithuania, a position he has held since two thousand nineteen, Nausėda has navigated complex challenges, including the Belarusian protests and the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
