Giuliano de' Medici

Giuliano de' Medici, born on October twenty-eighth, fourteen fifty-three, was the second son of Piero de' Medici, known as the Gouty, and Lucrezia Tornabuoni. He emerged as a prominent figure in the Florentine Republic, sharing the mantle of co-ruler with his elder brother, Lorenzo the Magnificent. While Lorenzo was celebrated as the patron of the arts, Giuliano cultivated his own reputation as the charming and athletic 'golden boy' of the Medici family.
