Giuseppe Olmo

Giuseppe Olmo, born on November 22, 1911, was a distinguished Italian road bicycle racer who made his mark in the world of competitive cycling. He showcased his exceptional talent at the 1932 Olympics, where he not only contributed to his team's success in the road race, securing a gold medal, but also achieved an impressive fourth place in the individual category.

In October 1935, Olmo set a remarkable hour record, covering a distance of forty-five point zero ninety kilometers, a feat that underscored his prowess as a cyclist. Following his retirement from racing in the late 1930s, he transitioned into the bicycle manufacturing industry, founding Olmo Biciclette in his hometown of Celle Ligure, Italy, in 1938. This company has continued to thrive, producing high-quality bicycles that are still celebrated today.

As he ventured into entrepreneurship, often affectionately referred to as 'Gepin,' Olmo expanded his business interests from the 1940s to the 1970s, establishing a diverse range of manufacturing industries under the Olmo Group. His legacy lives on through Olmo la Biciclissima, or Giuseppe Olmo spa, which is renowned for producing bicycles that rival the quality of esteemed brands like Colnago.
