Throughout his illustrious career, Saronni showcased his exceptional talent by winning the Giro d'Italia twice, first in 1979 and again in 1983. His prowess in the race was further highlighted by his remarkable performance in 1980, where he clinched seven stage victories and finished seventh overall, followed by a commendable third place in 1981 with three stage wins.
