Giuseppe Saronni

Giuseppe Saronni, affectionately known as Beppe, was born on 22 September 1957 in Italy. He is celebrated as a former racing cyclist who made a significant mark in the world of competitive cycling, particularly in the prestigious Giro d'Italia.

Throughout his illustrious career, Saronni showcased his exceptional talent by winning the Giro d'Italia twice, first in 1979 and again in 1983. His prowess in the race was further highlighted by his remarkable performance in 1980, where he clinched seven stage victories and finished seventh overall, followed by a commendable third place in 1981 with three stage wins.

In total, Saronni achieved an impressive twenty-four stage wins in the Giro d'Italia, solidifying his legacy as one of the sport's greats. After retiring from professional cycling, he transitioned into a role as a sporting director and currently serves as an advisor for the UCI WorldTeam UAE Team Emirates XRG.
