Glen Cochrane

Glen Cochrane, born on January twenty-ninth, nineteen fifty-eight, in Kamloops, British Columbia, was a notable Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman. He spent a significant portion of his career playing in the National Hockey League (NHL), where he showcased his skills over ten seasons with teams such as the Philadelphia Flyers, Vancouver Canucks, Chicago Blackhawks, and Edmonton Oilers, with the majority of his time spent with the Flyers.

During the nineteen eighty-one to eighty-two NHL season, Cochrane made headlines by accumulating three hundred twenty-nine penalty minutes, ranking as the third-highest in the league despite participating in only sixty-three games. His aggressive style of play and defensive prowess made him a formidable presence on the ice.

In a pivotal moment of his career, Cochrane was traded by the Flyers to the Vancouver Canucks at the trade deadline of the nineteen eighty-four to eighty-five season, in exchange for a third-round pick in the nineteen eighty-six NHL Entry Draft. This move marked a new chapter in his professional journey.

After retiring from playing, Cochrane transitioned into coaching, serving as an assistant coach with the WHL Kelowna Rockets from nineteen ninety-five to nineteen ninety-eight. He later took on the role of a Western Canada amateur scout, first with the Colorado Avalanche from two thousand one to two thousand seven, and then with the Anaheim Ducks until his untimely passing.

Sadly, Glen Cochrane was diagnosed with cancer in two thousand twenty-three and passed away from the disease on January thirteenth, two thousand twenty-four, at the age of sixty-five. His legacy in the world of ice hockey continues to be remembered by fans and players alike.
