Glen Matlock, born on August 27, 1956, is an influential English musician best known as the bass guitarist for the original line-up of the iconic punk rock band, the Sex Pistols. His contributions to the band are significant, as he is credited as a songwriter on ten of the twelve tracks from their only officially released studio album, Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols. Although he departed from the band early in the recording process, he is recognized as the bassist and backing vocalist on the legendary track, 'Anarchy in the U.K.'
Matlock's musical journey did not end with the Sex Pistols. After leaving the band in 1977, he continued to make his mark in the music industry by performing with various groups, including the Rich Kids, who achieved a UK No. 24 hit with their single 'Rich Kids' in 1978. His versatility as a bassist and songwriter has allowed him to explore different musical avenues, showcasing his talent beyond the punk genre.
In a twist of fate, following the untimely death of Sid Vicious, Matlock returned to the Sex Pistols for several reunions. His involvement in these events includes the 1996 Filthy Lucre Tour, the 2002 concert celebrating the Golden Jubilee of Elizabeth II, and the 2003 North American Piss Off Tour. More recently, he participated in the 2007-08 UK and Europe Combine Harvester Tour, and continues to perform with the band, featuring Frank Carter as a guest vocalist.
