Gloria E. Kemasuode Ubiebor, born on December 30, 1979, in Delta State, Nigeria, is a distinguished female track and field sprinter who has made her mark on the international athletics scene. Known for her speed and competitive spirit, Kemasuode has represented Nigeria in various prestigious events, showcasing her talent on the world stage.
One of the highlights of Kemasuode's career came during the 2008 Summer Olympics held in Beijing. Competing in the 4 x 100 metres relay alongside teammates Agnes Osazuwa, Oludamola Osayomi, and Ene Franca Idoko, the Nigerian team finished fourth in their first round heat. Their time of 43.43 seconds was the best non-directly qualifying time, allowing them to advance to the final.
In the final, the team made a strategic change, replacing Osazuwa with Halimat Ismaila. This decision paid off as they clocked an impressive 43.04 seconds, securing a third-place finish and earning a bronze medal. However, in 2016, the Russian team was disqualified due to doping violations, which elevated Nigeria to the silver medal position, further solidifying Kemasuode's legacy in the sport.
Despite her achievements, Kemasuode faced challenges in her career, including a two-year ban from competition following a failed drugs test at the Circuito de Corridas e Caminhada in Brazil. This incident, which occurred between July twenty-four, two thousand nine, and July twenty-three, two thousand eleven, served as a significant turning point in her athletic journey.
