Kiyoshi Nagai, widely recognized by his pen name Go Nagai, was born on September 6, 1945. He is a distinguished Japanese manga artist whose creative prowess spans across various genres, including science fiction, fantasy, horror, and erotica. Nagai made his professional debut in 1967 with the work 'Meakashi Polikichi', marking the beginning of a prolific career that would leave an indelible mark on the world of manga and anime.

Throughout the 1970s, Nagai gained immense popularity for his groundbreaking series such as 'Cutie Honey', 'Devilman', and 'Mazinger Z'. He is credited with the creation of the super robot genre, notably designing the first mecha robots that were piloted from within a cockpit in 'Mazinger Z'. His innovative storytelling also helped to pioneer the magical girl genre with 'Cutie Honey', the post-apocalyptic genre with 'Violence Jack', and the ecchi genre with 'Harenchi Gakuen'.

In addition to his work as a mangaka, Nagai has contributed to the field of education. In 2005, he took on the role of Character Design professor at the Osaka University of Arts, sharing his extensive knowledge and experience with aspiring artists. Furthermore, since 2009, he has been an active member of the nominating committee for the prestigious Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize, continuing to influence the manga industry.
