Godfrey Kneller

Godfrey Kneller, born on August eighth, sixteen forty-six, was a distinguished painter, draftsperson, engraver, and miniature painter who made a significant impact on the art world. Originally from Germany, he became the preeminent portraitist in England during the late Stuart and early Georgian periods. His exceptional talent earned him the prestigious role of court painter to several English and British monarchs, including Charles II and George I.
