Gongmin of Goryeo

Gongmin of Goryeo, born on May twenty-third, one thousand three hundred thirty, was a significant figure in Korean history, serving as the thirty-first ruler of the Goryeo dynasty from the year one thousand three hundred fifty-one until his death in one thousand three hundred seventy-four.

Known by his Mongolian name, Bayan Temür, Gongmin was the second son of King Chungsuk. His reign was marked by efforts to strengthen the central authority of the monarchy and to reduce the influence of powerful aristocratic families.

Throughout his rule, Gongmin faced numerous challenges, including internal strife and external threats. His leadership was characterized by attempts to restore stability and promote the welfare of his people, making him a notable monarch in the annals of Goryeo.
