Goran Bregović

Goran Bregović, born on March 22, 1950, in Sarajevo, is a renowned composer and recording artist from Bosnia and Herzegovina. He has gained international acclaim as one of the most prominent modern musicians and composers from the Slavic-speaking countries of the Balkans. Bregović's performances have graced prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall, Royal Albert Hall, and l'Olympia, showcasing his exceptional talent on the global stage.

Initially, Bregović began his musical journey with bands like Kodeksi and Jutro. However, it was his role as the lead guitarist and creative force behind Bijelo Dugme that catapulted him to fame. This band is celebrated as one of the most influential and beloved recording acts in the history of SFR Yugoslavia. Following the band's disbandment, Bregović ventured into a successful solo career, which included composing film scores that further solidified his reputation.

Among his notable film scores are those for Emir Kusturica's acclaimed films, including Time of the Gypsies, Arizona Dream, and Underground. His work on Silent Gunpowder earned him the prestigious Golden Arena for Best Film Music at the 1990 Pula Film Festival, among other accolades.
