Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Greg Abbott

Greg Abbott, born on November thirteenth, nineteen fifty-seven, is a prominent American politician, attorney, and jurist who has made significant contributions to Texas governance. Since January 2015, he has served as the 48th governor of Texas, making him the longest-serving incumbent governor in the United States as of 2025. A member of the Republican Party, Abbott previously held the position of the 50th attorney general of Texas from two thousand two to two thousand fifteen and served as a justice of the Texas Supreme Court from nineteen ninety-six to two thousand one.

Raised in Wichita Falls, Texas, Abbott pursued higher education at the University of Texas at Austin, where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration, followed by a Juris Doctor from Vanderbilt University. His legal career began in private practice with Butler and Binion, LLP from nineteen eighty-four to nineteen ninety-two. He transitioned into the judiciary as a state trial judge in the 129th District Court in Houston for three years before being appointed to the Texas Supreme Court by Governor George W. Bush in nineteen ninety-five, winning a full term in nineteen ninety-eight.

Abbott's tenure as attorney general was marked by significant legal battles, including advocating for the display of the Ten Commandments at the Texas State Capitol and challenging the Affordable Care Act. He was elected to the attorney general's office with fifty-seven percent of the vote in two thousand two and was reelected in two thousand six and two thousand ten, becoming the longest-serving attorney general in Texas history.

As governor, Abbott has championed a conservative agenda, supporting policies such as the total abortion ban, lenient gun laws, and election reform. He has also taken decisive actions in response to crises, including advocating for reforms to the Electric Reliability Council of Texas following the February 2021 winter storm and opposing face mask and vaccine mandates during the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, Abbott initiated Operation Lone Star in 2021 to combat illegal immigration, further solidifying his commitment to law enforcement and public safety.
