Greg Mueller, born on June 2, 1971, in Schaffhausen, Switzerland, is a distinguished professional poker player and former ice hockey defenceman. His journey in professional ice hockey began in 1992, where he showcased his skills in Germany's Eishockey-Bundesliga with EC Hedos München and later in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga with Maddogs München and Ratinger Löwen.
Mueller's transition from ice hockey to poker was inspired during lengthy road trips throughout his hockey career. After hanging up his skates, he embraced poker with a newfound seriousness, participating in various tournaments and quickly making a name for himself in the poker community.
His poker accolades include winning his first World Series of Poker title in two thousand nine, triumphing in the ten thousand dollar limit Texas hold'em championship. Just eleven days later, he secured his second bracelet in a one thousand five hundred dollar Limit Hold'em Shootout event, followed by a third victory in the ten thousand dollar H.O.R.S.E. championship at the 2019 WSOP.
In addition to his WSOP successes, Mueller achieved a notable fourth-place finish in the two thousand six World Poker Challenge, earning one hundred forty-two thousand two hundred eighty-five dollars. As of 2019, his total live tournament winnings have surpassed three million three hundred fifty thousand dollars, with over two million four hundred thousand dollars coming from his forty-three cashes at the WSOP.
