Grega Žemlja

Grega Žemlja, born on September 29, 1986, is a distinguished former Slovenian tennis player who made significant strides in the sport during his career. He is celebrated for his remarkable achievements on the ATP Challenger Tour, where he secured six singles titles and two doubles titles, showcasing his talent and determination on the court.

In 2012, Žemlja etched his name in history by becoming the first Slovenian male player to reach the third round of the US Open, a milestone that marked a new era for Slovenian tennis. His prowess continued to shine in 2013 when he reached the third round at Wimbledon, further solidifying his status as a trailblazer for his country.

Grega achieved his highest ATP singles ranking of world No. 43 in May 2013, making him the first Slovene ATP player to break into the top 50. His success on the court also translated into financial rewards, as he became the first Slovenian player to earn over one million US dollars in prize money, holding the title of the highest-paid Slovene player in history until Blaž Kavčič surpassed him.
