Gregor Hradetzky, born on January thirty-first, nineteen oh nine, in Krems an der Donau, was a remarkable figure in the world of sports and craftsmanship. Renowned as both an organ builder and a canoeist, he made significant contributions to both fields during his lifetime.
Competing in the late 1930s, Hradetzky showcased his exceptional talent at the 1936 Summer Olympics held in Berlin. There, he achieved the extraordinary feat of winning two gold medals: one in the K-1 one thousand metre competition and another in the folding K-1 ten thousand metres event. This accomplishment places him among a select group of athletes, as he is one of only two Austrians to have secured two gold medals in the same Summer Olympic Games, alongside Julius Lenhart.
In addition to his Olympic success, Hradetzky also demonstrated his prowess on the international stage at the 1938 ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships in Vaxholm, where he earned a bronze medal in the K-1 one thousand metre event, representing Germany. His achievements in canoeing have left a lasting legacy in the sport.
Gregor Hradetzky's life journey came to an end in Bad Kleinkirchheim, but his contributions to both organ building and canoeing continue to inspire future generations.
