Grigore Alexandrescu

Grigore Alexandrescu, born on February twenty-second, eighteen ten, was a prominent figure in the Romanian literary scene of the nineteenth century. Renowned as a poet, translator, prose writer, teacher, and military officer, he made significant contributions to Romanian literature, particularly through his fables that often carried political undertones.

As a literary innovator, Alexandrescu founded the periodical Albina Românească, which served as a platform for his ideas and writings. His works, including the collections Poezii published in eighteen thirty-two, eighteen thirty-eight, and eighteen thirty-nine, as well as Meditații released in eighteen sixty-three, showcased his talent for weaving satire and moral lessons into engaging narratives.
