Grim Sleeper

Lonnie David Franklin Jr., known as the Grim Sleeper, was born on August 30, 1952. He became infamous as an American serial killer, mechanic, and rapist, operating in Los Angeles, California. His criminal activities spanned from 1984 to 2007, during which he was linked to at least ten murders and one attempted murder. Franklin's chilling moniker stemmed from a notable fourteen-year hiatus in his crimes, which occurred between 1988 and 2002.

In July 2010, law enforcement apprehended Franklin as a suspect in these heinous acts. After a series of delays, his trial commenced in February 2016. The jury ultimately found him guilty on May 5, 2016, convicting him of the murders of nine women and one teenage girl. Following the verdict, the Los Angeles Superior Court sentenced him to death on August 10, 2016, for each of the ten victims.

Franklin's life came to an end on March 28, 2020, when he was discovered dead in his cell at San Quentin State Prison. The circumstances surrounding his death remain shrouded in mystery, as no cause was publicly disclosed.
