Gustav Fridolin, born on May tenth, nineteen eighty-three, is a prominent Swedish journalist, author, teacher, and former politician. He made significant contributions to Swedish politics as a member of the Green Party, serving as one of its spokespersons from two thousand eleven to two thousand nineteen. His political journey began in the Swedish Parliament, where he represented Stockholm Municipality from two thousand two to two thousand six, becoming the youngest member at that time.
After a brief hiatus from politics between two thousand six and two thousand ten, during which he authored two books and worked as an investigative journalist for TV4's Kalla fakta, Fridolin returned to the Parliament in the two thousand ten general election. He represented Skåne County North and East from two thousand ten to two thousand eighteen and later Stockholm County until his resignation in September two thousand nineteen.
In two thousand fourteen, Fridolin was appointed Minister for Education, marking a historic moment as the Green Party participated in the government for the first time. During his tenure, he initiated the 2015 School Commission, implemented measures to enhance literacy in reading, writing, and mathematics, and introduced the Lärarlönelyftet program aimed at increasing teachers' salaries. He stepped down from his ministerial role in January two thousand nineteen and concluded his term as Green Party spokesperson in May of the same year.
As of March two thousand twenty, Fridolin has transitioned to a teaching role at the Stockholm City Mission Folk high school, continuing his commitment to education and public service.
