Hafiz Saeed

Hafiz Saeed, born on June fifth, nineteen fifty, is a prominent figure in Pakistan, known for his controversial role as a militant and religious preacher. He co-founded Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), an Islamist militant organization that has been designated as a terrorist group by multiple international bodies, including the United Nations Security Council and various countries such as India, the United States, and the United Kingdom.

In July two thousand nineteen, Saeed was apprehended by Pakistani authorities, leading to an eleven-year prison sentence. This arrest occurred just three months prior to a scheduled review of Pakistan's action plan by the Financial Action Task Force, highlighting the international scrutiny surrounding his activities.

Further complicating his legal troubles, in early April two thousand twenty-two, he received an additional thirty-one-year sentence for terror financing. Despite claims from the Pakistan Army regarding his imprisonment, reports from Indian media suggested that he was residing in a military-protected facility in Lahore, complete with a private park, vehicles, a mosque, a madrasa, and a contingent of bodyguards.
