Haile Gerima

Haile Gerima, born on March fourth, nineteen forty-six, is a prominent Ethiopian filmmaker who has made significant contributions to cinema while residing in the United States. He is recognized as a leading figure in the L.A. Rebellion film movement, a collective of innovative Black filmmakers based in Los Angeles.

Since nineteen seventy-five, Gerima has dedicated his expertise to educating future generations as a film professor at Howard University in Washington, D.C. His commitment to storytelling and cultural representation has inspired countless students and filmmakers alike.
