Hal Rogers, born on December thirty-first, nineteen thirty-seven, is a prominent American lawyer and politician who has represented Kentucky's 5th congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives since nineteen eighty-one. A dedicated member of the Republican Party, he ascended to the role of dean of the House following the passing of Don Young in twenty twenty-two.

Raised in Barrier, Kentucky, Rogers pursued higher education at the University of Kentucky, where he earned both a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Laws degree. His career began in private practice after serving in the National Guard for Kentucky and North Carolina. In nineteen sixty-nine, he took on the role of commonwealth's attorney for Pulaski and Rockcastle counties, a position he held until his congressional election.

In nineteen seventy-nine, Rogers was the Republican nominee for lieutenant governor, setting the stage for his future political endeavors. Following the retirement announcement of incumbent U.S. representative Tim Lee Carter in nineteen eighty, Rogers launched a successful campaign for the congressional seat. He won the primary with a plurality and subsequently secured the general election with ease.

Rogers has consistently demonstrated electoral strength, winning reelection with over sixty-five percent of the vote in every election since nineteen eighty, with the exception of nineteen ninety. Currently, he is serving his twenty-third term in Congress, solidifying his status as a key figure in Kentucky politics.
