Halshka Hulevychivna

Halszka Hulevychowna, born around 1575 or 1577, was a distinguished noblewoman and philanthropist from the Nowina Polish coat of arms. Her legacy is deeply intertwined with the cultural and spiritual development of her time, particularly in the region of Volyn.

Throughout her life, Halszka dedicated herself to the advancement of spirituality and education. She is best known for founding the Kyiv Brotherhood Epiphany Monastery and the Kyiv Brotherhood School, institutions that played a pivotal role in the establishment of the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, a cornerstone of higher education in Ukraine.

Her commitment to philanthropy extended beyond mere financial contributions; she actively supported the Lutsk brotherhood, ensuring the growth and sustainability of their initiatives. Today, she is revered as an Orthodox saint, celebrated for her unwavering dedication to enlightenment and community welfare.
