Hamdallah Mustawfi

Hamdallah Mustawfi, born in the year one thousand two hundred eighty-one, was a distinguished Persian official, historian, geographer, and poet. He emerged during the twilight of the Mongol Ilkhanate and the subsequent interregnum, a period marked by significant cultural and political shifts.

A native of Qazvin, Mustawfi hailed from a lineage of mustawfis, or financial accountants, which is reflected in his name. His close association with the eminent vizier and historian Rashid al-Din Hamadani greatly influenced his scholarly pursuits, inspiring him to delve into historical and geographical writings.
