Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Hamid Karzai

Hamid Karzai, born on December twenty-fourth, nineteen fifty-seven, in Kandahar, is a prominent Afghan politician who served as the seventh president of Afghanistan from two thousand two to two thousand fourteen. He was the first president of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan from two thousand four to two thousand fourteen and previously held the position of chairman of the Afghan Interim Administration from two thousand one to two thousand two.

Karzai completed his education at Habibia High School in Kabul and earned a master's degree from Himachal Pradesh University in Shimla, India, during the nineteen eighties. His political journey began in Pakistan, where he actively supported the Afghan mujahideen during the Soviet–Afghan War and its aftermath. Following the assassination of his father in July nineteen ninety-nine, he became the head of the Popalzai tribe.

In October two thousand one, as the United States invaded Afghanistan, Karzai emerged as a key leader among the Pashtun tribes in Kandahar, leading an uprising against the Taliban. His political influence grew significantly after the Taliban's removal, and he was appointed chairman of the Interim Administration during the December two thousand one International Conference on Afghanistan in Germany.

Karzai was elected as interim president during the two thousand two loya jirga and later won the presidential elections in two thousand four and two thousand nine, serving two terms in office. His presidency was marked by efforts to build alliances among Afghanistan's diverse ethnic communities and to strengthen relations with Pakistan. However, his later years in office saw increasing tensions with NATO and the United States, particularly regarding his views on extremism and terrorism.

After the Taliban's takeover of Kabul in two thousand twenty-one, Karzai claimed that the Taliban's entry into the city was not through force but rather an invitation to prevent chaos. He emphasized the need for the new Taliban government to gain internal legitimacy through a general election or loya jirga to achieve international recognition.
