Hamza Yusuf

Hamza Yusuf, born in nineteen fifty-eight, is a prominent American Islamic scholar known for his pioneering role in Islamic neo-traditionalism. He has dedicated his life to promoting Islamic sciences and classical teaching methodologies across the globe, making significant contributions to the field of Islamic education.

In nineteen ninety-six, Yusuf co-founded Zaytuna College in Berkeley, California, initially established as Zaytuna Institute. His influence extends beyond the college, as he serves as an advisor to the Center for Islamic Studies at the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley and the Islamic Studies program at Stanford University.

Yusuf holds the position of vice-president at the Global Center for Guidance and Renewal, an organization founded by Abdallah bin Bayyah. Additionally, he is vice-president of the Forum for Promoting Peace in Muslim Societies, which has garnered attention for its connections to the UAE government and Yusuf's support for various political leaders and initiatives, including the Abraham Accords.
