Han Seung-soo

Han Seung-soo, born on December twenty-eighth, nineteen thirty-six, is a distinguished South Korean diplomat, economist, and politician. He served as the Prime Minister of South Korea from two thousand eight to two thousand nine under President Lee Myung-bak, showcasing his leadership during a pivotal time in the nation's history.

His extensive career includes significant roles within the United Nations, where he was appointed as the Special Envoy on Climate Change from two thousand seven to two thousand eight, and later for Disaster Risk Reduction and Water from two thousand thirteen to two thousand eighteen. Han also contributed as a Special Advisor to the UN/World Bank High-Level Panel on Water and was a member of various UN advisory boards, emphasizing his commitment to global sustainability and water management.

In addition to his UN roles, Han held several key positions in the South Korean government, including Minister of Foreign Affairs and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance. His political journey also saw him serve as the Chief of Staff to President Kim Young-sam and as South Korea's Ambassador to the United States. A three-term member of the National Assembly, he was directly elected by the people of his hometown, Chuncheon, reflecting his strong local support.
