Handrij Zejler

Handrij Zejler, born on February first, eighteen oh four, was a prominent Sorbian poet and writer whose contributions significantly shaped the cultural landscape of his time. As a passionate national revival activist, he dedicated his life to the promotion of Sorbian language and culture, striving to uplift the identity of his people.

In addition to his literary pursuits, Zejler served as a Lutheran pastor, intertwining his faith with his commitment to social and cultural advocacy. His dual role as a spiritual leader and a cultural figure allowed him to reach a diverse audience, inspiring many through his words and actions.

One of his notable achievements was co-founding the Lusatian cultural and scientific society, Maćica Serbska. This organization played a crucial role in fostering a sense of community and pride among the Sorbian people, further solidifying Zejler's legacy as a key figure in the national revival movement.
