A proud graduate of Ohio State University in two thousand six, Thompson's collegiate career was marked by remarkable achievements. She earned the title of NCAA All-America four times and played a crucial role in leading the Buckeyes to victory in the two thousand four NCAA National Championship. Her individual performances were equally impressive, securing third place at the NCAA Championships in both two thousand two and two thousand four, while also contributing to four consecutive Midwest Championship titles.

Thompson's competitive spirit extended beyond collegiate fencing, as she represented six national teams and two junior squads.
