A two-time world champion, she clinched the title in two thousand twelve and again in two thousand nineteen, showcasing her remarkable skill and dedication to the sport.

Mills made her mark on the Olympic stage, earning a silver medal for Team GB alongside her crew member Saskia Clark during the two thousand twelve London Olympics. She continued to excel, securing a gold medal in the same event at the two thousand sixteen Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, and again at the two thousand twenty Olympics in Tokyo, this time partnered with Eilidh McIntyre.

Currently, Mills serves as the on-board strategist for the Emirates Great Britain SailGP Team, competing in the prestigious SailGP worldwide competition. Her commitment to advancing the sport is further exemplified by her co-founding of Athena Pathway in two thousand twenty-two with Ben Ainslie, a program designed to fast-track the development of female and youth sailors. Under her leadership, the Athena Pathway team participated in the inaugural Women's America's Cup.
