Hannes Trinkl

Hannes Trinkl, born on February first, nineteen sixty-eight, is a distinguished former alpine skier from Austria. He made a significant mark in the world of skiing, notably clinching the bronze medal in the downhill event at the nineteen ninety-eight Winter Olympics. His remarkable performance saw him finish a mere zero point zero one seconds ahead of fourth-placed Jürg Grünenfelder, showcasing his competitive spirit and skill.

Trinkl's journey in competitive skiing began to shine when he achieved his first World Cup victory in December nineteen ninety-three. He won a Super-G race in Lech while wearing bib number fifty-one, a feat that remains notable as it is the highest start number for a male Super-G winner to date. This victory set the stage for his future successes in the sport.

After retiring from competition in two thousand four, Trinkl transitioned into a pivotal role within the skiing community. He served as the race director for Alpine Skiing World Cup events in his hometown of Hinterstoder and took on the role of vice president of the Austrian Ski Federation. His expertise led him to be appointed as the race director for men's speed events on the World Cup circuit starting from the two thousand fourteen to fifteen season.

In his capacity as a race director for the International Ski Federation, abbreviated as FIS, Trinkl has also taken on the crucial role of course setter for male downhill races in prestigious events such as the World Cup, World Championships, and the Olympic Winter Games. In the Super-G events, he collaborates with course setters from other nations, ensuring that the courses are set to the highest standards for all competitors.
