Hans-Hermann Hoppe

Hans-Hermann Hoppe, born on September second, nineteen forty-nine, is a prominent German-American economist, philosopher, and writer known for his association with Austrian School economics and anarcho-capitalism. His academic career flourished at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where he served as a professor of economics from nineteen eighty-six until two thousand eight. A senior fellow at the Mises Institute, Hoppe has made significant contributions to libertarian thought.

In two thousand six, Hoppe emigrated to Turkey, where he established the Property and Freedom Society. This organization has attracted a range of speakers, some of whom have been identified with white nationalist ideologies. Hoppe's work often critiques democracy, most notably in his influential book, Democracy: The God That Failed, published in two thousand one. In this work, he advocates for the creation of exclusionary 'covenant communities' aimed at safeguarding family and kin.

Hoppe's controversial views, particularly regarding the exclusion of democrats and homosexuals from society, have garnered attention within far-right circles. His intellectual journey was significantly shaped by his mentorship under Murray Rothbard, who played a crucial role in establishing Hoppe's academic position at UNLV. In two thousand four, Hoppe faced scrutiny following a student's complaint about his remarks on homosexuality, leading to an investigation that ultimately highlighted issues of academic freedom.
