Hari Kostov, born on November thirteenth, nineteen fifty-nine, is a prominent Macedonian politician and economist. He made his mark in the political landscape as the Prime Minister of Macedonia, a role he held from May two thousand four until his resignation in November of the same year. His appointment came shortly after being nominated by President Branko Crvenkovski, and he was officially confirmed by the parliament on May thirty-first, two thousand four.
Before stepping into the role of Prime Minister, Kostov served as an economic advisor to both the Macedonian government and the World Bank during the eighties and nineties. His political career also included a significant tenure as the interior minister in the preceding government led by Crvenkovski, which lasted from two thousand two until two thousand four. This government concluded when Crvenkovski was elected president, and Kostov chose to retain many officials from that administration.
His time as Prime Minister was marked by challenges, particularly within the coalition government, where disputes arose between ethnic Macedonian and ethnic Albanian ministers. On November fifteenth, two thousand four, Kostov announced his resignation, which was accepted three days later, on November eighteenth. He was succeeded by the defense minister, Vlado Bučkovski.
Currently, Kostov serves as the chief executive of Komercijalna Bank Skopje, a position he held prior to his government involvement. Notably, he identifies as an ethnic Aromanian, adding to the rich tapestry of Macedonia's diverse cultural heritage.
