Harry Wu

Harry Wu, born on February eighth, nineteen thirty-seven, is a distinguished Chinese-American geologist, autobiographer, and human rights defender. His life story is marked by resilience and a commitment to justice, having endured nineteen years in Chinese labor camps. This harrowing experience shaped his perspective and fueled his activism.

After his release, Wu made the courageous decision to seek a new life in the United States, where he became a citizen and continued his advocacy for human rights. His dedication to raising awareness about the plight of political prisoners in China led him to establish the Laogai Research Foundation in nineteen ninety-two, an organization focused on documenting and combating human rights abuses.

In addition to his activism, Wu has shared his experiences through writing, contributing to the understanding of the harsh realities faced by many in labor camps. As a university teacher, he has inspired countless students with his knowledge and passion for geology and human rights.
