Hassan Diab, born on June first, nineteen fifty-nine, is a prominent Lebanese academic, engineer, and politician. He made history by serving as the twenty-sixth prime minister of Lebanon from January twenty-first, two thousand twenty, until September tenth, two thousand twenty-one. His appointment came from President Michel Aoun in late two thousand nineteen, following the tenure of Saad Hariri.
Before ascending to the role of prime minister, Diab held the position of Minister of Education from June two thousand eleven to February two thousand fourteen under President Michel Suleiman. His contributions during this period were significant in shaping educational policies in Lebanon.
Diab's time as prime minister was marked by the tragic events surrounding the Beirut explosion in August two thousand twenty, which prompted him to submit his resignation on August tenth of the same year. He continued to serve as caretaker prime minister until Najib Mikati formed a new government on September tenth, two thousand twenty-one, navigating a challenging political landscape during his tenure.
