He made history by clinching the gold medal in the three-meter springboard event at the 2008 Olympics, solidifying his status as one of the greatest divers of all time. His journey to Olympic glory was marked by fierce competition, as he triumphed over elite divers such as two-time world champion Alexandre Despatie and eight-time Olympic medalist Dmitri Sautin.

Before his Olympic success, He Chong partnered with Wang Feng, with whom he won a gold medal in the three-meter synchronized springboard event at the 2005 World Championships.
