Héctor Baley, born on November sixteenth, nineteen fifty, is a distinguished Argentine former professional football goalkeeper and coach. He is best remembered for his contributions to Argentina's national team during the late seventies, notably as a member of the squad that triumphed in the 1978 FIFA World Cup. Although he was part of the team in the subsequent 1982 tournament, Baley's appearances were limited due to the stellar performances of his teammate, Ubaldo Fillol.
Baley's professional journey began in the Zubeldía era at Estudiantes de La Plata, where he was one of several goalkeepers who stepped in to fill the void left by the suspended Alberto Poletti. His career took a significant turn in 1978 when he joined Independiente, contributing to the team's victory in the Nacional championship.
Throughout his career, Baley showcased his skills at various clubs, including Huracán, Colón de Santa Fe, and Talleres de Córdoba. His time at Talleres was marred by a severe injury sustained during the final match of the nineteen eighty-two to eighty-three season, a game that ultimately awarded the championship to Estudiantes, the club where he began his professional career. In that match, his replacement was Ángel Comizzo, who made his debut.
