Hector Fabre

Hector Fabre, born on August ninth, eighteen thirty-four, was a prominent figure in Canadian history, known for his multifaceted career as a lawyer, journalist, diplomat, and politician. Appointed to the Senate of Canada on February fifth, eighteen seventy-five, on the recommendation of Alexander Mackenzie, he represented the senatorial division of La Salle, Quebec. His tenure in the Senate lasted until his resignation on July twelfth, eighteen eighty-two, during which he sat as a Nationalist.

Following his departure from the Senate, Fabre was appointed as Canada's first General Agent in Paris, a significant diplomatic role that he held until his passing in nineteen ten. This appointment was one of the earliest instances of Canadian diplomatic representation abroad, marking a pivotal moment in the nation's history.

In recognition of his contributions, Fabre was honored in eighteen eighty-six as a Companion of the Order of St Michael and St George. His family included a son, Paul Fabre, born in eighteen sixty-seven, who accompanied his parents to Paris. In February eighteen ninety-two, Hector took on the role of editorial secretary for the journal Paris-Canada, later becoming its editor two years thereafter.

Despite struggling with health issues throughout his life, Hector Fabre's legacy endures. He passed away in nineteen ten at the age of seventy, leaving behind a rich history of service and dedication to his country.
