Hedvig Sophia Augusta of Sweden, born on June twenty-six, sixteen eighty-one, was a prominent figure in Swedish history. As the eldest child of Charles XI of Sweden and Ulrike Eleonore of Denmark, she held a significant position from birth, being the heiress presumptive to the Swedish throne until the birth of her brother a year later.
Her status as heiress was reinstated when her brother ascended the throne as King of Sweden in sixteen ninety-seven, a role she maintained until her untimely death in December of seventeen oh eight. In addition to her royal duties, Hedvig Sophia served as the regent of the duchy of Holstein-Gottorp for her minor son from the year seventeen oh two until her passing.
