Heiðar Helguson, born on August 22, 1977, is a distinguished former professional footballer from Iceland, renowned for his role as a striker. He began his football journey in the Icelandic league system, showcasing his talent with clubs such as UMFS Dalvík and Þróttur. His career took a significant turn when he moved to Norway to play for Lillestrøm, where he spent one season before making a leap to England.
In 1999, Heiðar joined Watford for a transfer fee of one million five hundred thousand pounds, a move that marked the beginning of his impactful tenure in English football. Although Watford faced relegation from the Premier League during his inaugural season, Heiðar quickly established himself as a key player, finishing as the club's top scorer in multiple seasons, including 1999–2000, 2002–03, and 2004–05.
After his successful stint at Watford, Heiðar transferred to Fulham in 2005, where he played in the Premier League until 2007. He then continued his career with Bolton until 2009, before joining Championship side QPR.
