Heinz Hitler

Heinz Hitler, born on 14 March 1920 in Magdeburg, Germany, was a notable figure in the tumultuous era of World War II. As the son of Alois Hitler Jr. and his second wife, Hedwig Heidemann, Heinz was the half-nephew of Adolf Hitler and the younger half-brother of William Stuart-Houston. Unlike his brother, Heinz was a fervent supporter of the Nazi regime, earning the distinction of being referred to by Adolf Hitler as his favorite nephew.

Heinz's education at the National Political Institutes of Education (Napola) in Ballenstedt from 1935 to 1939 laid the groundwork for his military aspirations. After completing his Abitur, he joined the Wehrmacht, where he aimed to rise through the ranks to become an officer. By 1941, he had achieved the rank of Unteroffizier and was serving with the 23rd Potsdamer Artillery Regiment, participating in the infamous Operation Barbarossa on the Eastern Front as a radio operator for Army Group Centre.

Demonstrating a strong desire to engage directly in combat, Heinz insisted on serving on the front lines, despite his uncle's reservations. His commitment to the war effort led him to a perilous mission on 10 January 1942, where he was tasked with recovering radio equipment from an abandoned post. Unfortunately, during this operation, he was captured by Red Army forces and taken to the Butyrka military prison in Moscow.

Tragically, Heinz's life was cut short when he died on 21 February 1942 at the age of twenty-one, under circumstances that remain unclear. His remains were lost, leaving behind a legacy intertwined with one of history's most infamous families.
