Born on October thirty-first, nineteen seventy-nine, in Ahmadi, Kuwait, Helen Upperton is a distinguished Canadian bobsledder and former athletics competitor. Her family's involvement in the oil industry led them to travel extensively, granting her dual citizenship in both Great Britain and Canada. Upperton's athletic journey began as a triple jumper at the University of Texas in Austin, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree before transitioning to bobsleigh in two thousand two.
Upperton's bobsleigh career is marked by significant achievements, including a silver medal in the two-woman event at the twenty-ten Winter Olympics alongside Shelley-Ann Brown. This remarkable feat came after a fourth-place finish in the same event at the twenty-six Winter Olympics in Turin. Her prowess in the sport was further demonstrated during the two thousand five to six World Cup season, where she secured four medals, including a historic gold in St. Moritz, marking Canada's first women's World Cup victory in bobsleigh.
