Helena Pilejczyk

Helena Pilejczyk, born on April first, nineteen thirty-one, was a distinguished Polish speed skater whose remarkable career spanned several decades. She first graced the ice at the Polish National Championships in nineteen fifty-three, showcasing her talent and determination from an early age.

Her most notable achievement came during the Winter Olympics in Squaw Valley in nineteen sixty, where she earned a bronze medal in the 1,500 meters, solidifying her status as one of Poland's top athletes. Over her illustrious career, Pilejczyk set an impressive forty Polish skating records and claimed thirty-seven national titles across various distance, allround, and relay race events.

Even after her competitive days, Helena remained involved in the sport, participating in the masters games of two thousand two, where she competed in the category for female skaters aged seventy and above. Her passion for speed skating never waned, and she continued to inspire many in the sport.

Helena Pilejczyk passed away in Elbląg on November twelfth, twenty twenty-three, at the age of ninety-two, leaving behind a legacy of excellence and dedication in the world of speed skating.
