Henna Virkkunen, born on June fourth, nineteen seventy-two, is a prominent Finnish politician and journalist. Currently, she serves as the Executive Vice-President of the European Commission for Technological Sovereignty, Security and Democracy, as well as the European Commissioner for Digital and Frontier Technologies in the von der Leyen II Commission, a role she has held since December twenty twenty-four.
A dedicated member of the center-right National Coalition Party, which is part of the European People's Party, Virkkunen's political career includes her tenure as a Member of the European Parliament from twenty fourteen to twenty twenty-four. During this time, she was actively involved in shaping policies at the European level.
Before her European Parliament service, Virkkunen made significant contributions in Finnish politics, serving in the Parliament of Finland from two thousand seven to two thousand fourteen.
